Wm. S. Haynes Flute #7223. C-foot, closed-hole, inline G configuration, drawn and rolled tone holes. C# Trill. Bb lever. Gold lip-plate. Flute was overhauled in 2009 or 2010 and is in good playing condition. Case is in poor condition, held together in back with duct tape. Front latches still work. No cleaning rod or case cover. I am selling a Amadeus Flute by William S. Haynes, product number AF 600BOF, retail value over $1000. When last used (two years ago) it was in good working order. There is wear on several of the valves that can be seen on close examination of the photos. There is also tarnish and other discoloration that I have tried to show in the photos, particularly on the underneath side. The full sized images can be provided to serious buyers for closer examination. This includes the three flute pieces, lined case, also cleaning tools, and an outer case. Two of the three zippers on the outer case have lost their fobs but open and close properly. I have a Full Circle Louis Lot model headjoint for sale. It is made from grenadilla wood and the darker picture more accurately depicts the actual color – it is very dark, almost black and the brown and reddish tones in the 2nd picture are an artifact of using a flash. The tenon was resized to fit and it was used on a .014 wall Haynes. I had to return it to the maker to have this done and I believe he has retired so don’t resize the tenon to try it on your flute as I will not accept a return if you do – use paper or tape to try it! It plays with a dark tone that is very focused and projects surprisingly well-it doesn’t seem as loud up close but the sound carries well. My understanding is that the old style embouchure cut puts more energy into the body – the sound doesn’t come just from the embouchure hole. The pictured Cavallara case is included as is a dowel with reference marks for moving the headjoint cork.

This is a used Wm.S. Haynes Co. Amadeus Flute Model MM1. I called the Haynes company and asked the value of this flute and I was told that in it’s present condition it is worth 800 dollars. Pads are in good playing condtion. No Dings. Nice etching on the mouthpiece. Comes with the cleaning rod and hardcase with zippered bag. Hardcase has one non-working latch. Shipping will be FREE. We’ve been in business since 1953 and have had the same owner since 1963. Originally we were a repair shop that specialized in woodwind and sax restoration. Today we have 18 employees including eight of the finest repair technicians in the country. Virtually ALL the items we sell have been fully reconditioned in our own shop, although we do sell a few unrestored historical instruments each year. It’s sometimes possible to buy a vintage flute on Ebay for a lower price, but unless that instrument wears all new pads and corks from a reputable shop, you won’t know how it plays until you spend another several hundred to have it mechanically overhauled. With a used flute from OUR shop, you know it’s in the finest condition when it arrives at your home! Here’s what we do to all used flutes we sell: The instrument is taken apart and everything washed clean. Dings are next burnished from body, head and foot. After the body-shop work’s been completed, we swedge hinge-tubes tight again and re-fit them to the flute body. Finally, pads and corks are replaced and the instrument play-tested. Pre 1950 French flutes often require more than twice the restoration time that we need for a modern Haynes or Powell. We use thin double-skin pads of the highest quality and shim each pad in the manner of the best Boston makers. Wichita Band’s service warranty is the same as it’s been for more than thirty years: “ALL new and all used instruments sold by Wichita Band Instrument Company come with our 24 month service warranty. It’s in addition to any factory guarantees. For two full years, we will repair or replace, whichever in our estimation is the more advisable, pads, corks, springs or other parts required, at no charge to the customer. The customer is responsible for shipping and insurance charges. Cases and plating finishes are not covered by our service warranty but are sometimes covered by factory guarantees.” Wichita Band Instrument Company maintains a repair department capable of restoration work of the highest quality. Even though repairs are essentially “free” for the first two years, after that period has expired, we remain at your service to maintain and repair your musical equipment forever. It’s our “service after the sale” promise and has been since 1953!
