This is a beautiful upper level Jupiter flute, the diMedici model 1011RSB. It has a solid silver headjoint, body and foot, the keys are silver plated and sport French arms- a design detail which all professional flutists desire. The flute is used, but is in excellent condition and the pads have lots of life remaining. It has been cleaned, oiled and adjusted and is in great playing condition. The B footjoint has a gizmo key and the G key is inline. The flute is housed in its original hard french style case and has an outer case with a zippered compartment. A cleaning rod is included.

This is a rare old handmade diMedici alto flute according to several technical forums, was built/design by a former Muramatsu foreman Yokoyama Iwao whose design later went on to become the prototype for the Muratmasu in its alto flutes lines. This particular instrument although manufactured by diMedici, it employed Iwao's design and I find it possesses characteristics found on a Muramatsu and better than most vintage Haynes. Its mechanism reminds me of Yamaha's reliability yet smooth and comfortable like a Miyazawa, its range of color spectrum is just unbelievable. This instrument was often requested by my fellow flutists back in the college days for chamber music performances or solo recitals because they liked it so much. I have tested Muramatsu, Haynes, Jupiter, Trevor James, Pearl, and many power house alto makers, but I found this to be the most consistent and has that velvelty quality that I expect in The Rite of Spring or Daphnis et Chloe. Technical specification: diMedici alto flute, Japan, designed by IWAO (engraved on the barrel) and the serial number is 0023. Silver plated (revised 7/23/2009) head/body/keys (plating is in excellent shape) No dent, scratch or dings. French pointed keys and soldered tone holes. Those of you who are in the field know what this means but those of you who don't, it means (soldered tone holes), it means the holes on this instrument are not drawn out by machine. Hours of painstaking handwork were utilized to solder individal holes onto the tube for heavier/more resistance sound. I have no use for it because I focus mostly on flute and piccolo. I do all the maintenance so it is in top playing condition. I put a delrin cork in the headjoint for the purpose of durability and all you need to do is replace the o ring(2x) every year or so. Personally I think the sound is more resonant, perhaps better seal and less weight in the cork assembly. More pictures upon request and I am selling it so I can pay off my piccolo.
